Amazingly Harlech Castle was built in just 12 years, from 1283 to 1295 by an army of skilled craftsmen & labourers and cost £8,190. The castle consists of two rings of walls and towers with an immensely strong east gatehouse. The nation’s unofficial anthem ‘Men of Harlech’ which is loved by rugby fans and regimental bands is said to describe the siege which took place in Harlech during the War of the Roses.
